Kasol is a hamlet in the district Kullu of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. Kasol is the Himalayan hotspot for backpackers, commonly known as the Amsterdam of India. Kasol has good weather throughout the year and receives a fair amount of snowfall from late December to February. Kasol Music Festival happens in Kasol on every New Year's Eve. People from around the world gather for this festival. With the waters of the Parvati River gurgling along and a stunning view of the snow-capped mountains in the background, taking a stroll along the river is one of the best ways to spend a day in Kasol. With smooth boulders and clean white sand separating the green grass from the frothing sea-green waters of the river, every single bend in the river opens up to a breathtaking panorama of cliffs, pine trees, and gushing waterfalls. Kasol is famous for its trekking trails, which include treks to Kheerganga, Yanker Pass, Sar Pass, and Pin Parbati Pass. Kasol is inhabited by a huge number of people from Israel, which is clearly discernible from the plenteously available Israeli food and the street signposts inscribed in Hebrew.
Arrive in Kasol, check into a riverside camp or hotel, and freshen up.Head to a popular local spot like The Evergreen or Moon Dance Cafe for an Israeli breakfast platter. Walk down to the banks of the Parvati River to soak in the icy-blue views. Cross the suspension bridge for an easy 45-minute nature walk along the Chalal Trek Trail. In the evening Walk back to the main Kasol Market to shop for winter clothes, souvenirs, and try local hot Siddu.
Take a 1-hour local cab from Kasol up to Barshaini, the last motorable point. Embark on a short, scenic 1-hour hike (around 3 km) from Barshaini up to Tosh Village. Wander through the raw, wooden houses of Tosh and check out its panoramic snow-capped mountain views. Hike up to the Tosh Waterfall and eat Maggi at a nearby cliffside cafe. Head back down to Barshaini and catch a ride back to your stay in Kasol. Enjoy a relaxing dinner next to a bonfire under the stars at your campsite.
Take a 15-minute drive to the nearby holy town of Manikaran Sahib. Visit the famous Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara and take a holy dip in the natural, therapeutic hot springs. The main ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to mythology, Shiva and Goddess Parvati meditated here for thousands of years. The natural hot spring here is constantly boiling and is used to cook rice and lentils directly for the community langar (free kitchen).
