Guwahati (formerly known as Gauhati) is the largest metropolis of Assam, a North- East Indian State. It is situated between the South banks of the Brahmaputra River and the foothills of the Shillong plateau. Many ancient Hindu temples, like the Kamakhya Temple and Umananda Temple, are in the city, giving it the name "City of Temples". It is called the Gateway of North - East India. India’s first fully solar-powered railway station at its heart, the city is well connected to other regions of the state and India.
On arrival at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport or Guwahati Railway Station, check into your hotel. Afternoon, you can visit the Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple, a sprawling, pristine white temple complex featuring traditional South Indian architecture and in the evening, head to the riverfront for a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River.
Early Morning, visit the highly revered Maa Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hills early in the morning. It is one of the oldest and most important Shakti Peethas in Bharat. Later, take a government ferry or a private motorboat from Uzan Bazar ghat to Umananda Temple. It sits on Peacock Island, which is widely recognized as the world's smallest inhabited river island. Keep an eye out for rare golden langurs. Now head over to the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. This massive cultural institution houses a museum, library, and open-air theatre showcasing the diverse heritage of Northeast India. Walk through the bustling lanes of Fancy Bazar, the ultimate local shopping hub, to pick up authentic Assam silk, traditional handicrafts, and local tea leaves.
Today, after breakfast, check out of your hotel, and make a quick stop at the Assam State Museum if time permits, to see unique historical artefacts. Afternoon Departure: Proceed to the airport or railway station for your onward journey home
